Frequently Asked Questions

Q.1. What is a BDE course?

A.    Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO) has deemed that new drivers can take a Basic Driver Education (BDE) course to get familiarized with the rules of the                  road and safe driving methods. They have certain requirements to follow in order for a driving schools to have approved a BDE course and provide it to the public.               Only on approval from MTO can a driving school provide such a course.

Q.2. How do I know if a driving school is an approved BDE course provider?

A.   MTO on its web site provides a list of all approved driving schools, in the province of Ontario, for the public to check.

 

Q.3. What is eight month advantage?

A.    If you complete a BDE course, you can take your G1 exit road test after eight months of getting your G1 licence instead of one year, which is the regular             waiting period.

Q.4. Where do I book my road test?

A.    To book your road test go to www.drivetest.ca or call 1-888-570-6110.

Q.5. Do the Drive Test centers supply the car for the road test?

A.    No, Drive Test centers do not supply the car for the road test. Candidates have to bring a car which can be used for the road test. Candidates usually bring         either their own car, their parents' car, or their driving school's car. Most driving schools provide their car to their students for an extra fee.

Q.6. What are the COVID-19 precautions taken by Excalibur Driver Education?

A.    The classroom sessions are being held in a spacious room, with pre, post and frequent cleaning of the frequently touched spots. The instructor and the                 students are required to wear face masks during the in-class sessions and in-car sessions, with the instructor required to wear a face shield also during the         in-car sessions. The car is sanitized before and after each student session, temperature taken of each student before in-car sessions and a questionaire                 asked for the symptoms. It is only if no symptoms present and temperature in the normal range, is a student allowed to take the session.
